1. Are you married?

You don't have to be married. If you are, your partner, and any other family members in your home, will be required to be part of the approval process so everyone is happy with the changes it will make to your family.

No problem. Lots of our foster carers are single, we welcome anyone wanting to foster regardless.

2. Do you have children of your own?

It is important that fostering is right for everyone in your family and you need to talk to your children and seek their views. Fostering involves your whole family and will affect your children as they will have to share your time and their home.

We will look to see what experience you have of child care maybe within your wider family, at work or in your leisure time. However it is important you can demonstrate some skill and knowledge of caring for or being involved with children.

3. Do you have a spare bedroom?

That's great if you have a bedroom which can be dedicated to fostering. This should not be the room of one of your children who is at university and may return home during the holidays.

Unfortunately you must be able to provide a child with their own bedroom.
